Notes

Is it free to post my website?

Yes — completely. Posting your site to the Tally ledger is free, with no fee now and none later. Open the posting form, enter your URL, choose an account, and you are on the books.

What is Tally?

Tally is a free web ledger: a hand-kept directory of 796 websites across 22 accounts. A person posts each site to the books, so you can read the open web like a set of accounts instead of an algorithm.

How are sites organised?

By account. Every site is filed under one of 22 accounts — from tech to travel — so related entries sit together on the same folio and are easy to scan.

How do I post my site?

Go to the posting page, enter your site’s URL, choose the account that fits, and submit. If you leave the description blank we’ll fetch one for you. It takes under a minute.

Do you review submissions?

We do. New postings are read by a person before they’re entered, and we reconcile the accounts now and then to strike off links that have gone offline.

Colophon

Tally is a free web ledger — a hand-kept set of books for the open web. We post working websites across twenty-two accounts, recording each one by hand rather than by algorithm.

There is nothing to install and nothing to pay. Open an account, scan the column, and follow the entries that fit. When you run a site of your own, you can post it to the ledger in under a minute — free, and free to stay.

It is search turned into bookkeeping: instead of a blank box and a billion guesses, you get a small, legible ledger that a person actually balances.
